Como le hab\u00eda prometido a Rut, Booz desde muy temprano se dio a la tarea de buscar a ese pariente: se sent\u00f3 en la puerta de la ciudad, lugar por donde sal\u00edan todos los habitantes de Bel\u00e9n para realizar sus trabajos agr\u00edcolas y ganaderos, para pedirle al pariente m\u00e1s cercano que pueda comprar las tierras de Elimelec y as\u00ed redimir a la familia. El \u201cpariente\u201d acept\u00f3 comprar las tierras, pero cuando se le inform\u00f3 que deb\u00eda tomar a Rut como esposa, le indic\u00f3 a Booz que le ced\u00eda su privilegio y se quit\u00f3 la sandalia.<\/p>

La ley deuteron\u00f3mica indicaba que cuando un hermano no quer\u00eda casarse con su cu\u00f1ada que hab\u00eda quedado viuda sin hijos, la cu\u00f1ada le quitaba la sandalia y le escup\u00eda el rostro, a partir de ese momento, su casa ser\u00eda identificado como la \u201ccasa del descalzo\u201d. Como en este caso no era el cu\u00f1ado de Rut, sino el familiar cercano, \u00e9l le entreg\u00f3 su sandalia a Booz. Cumpliendo su promesa, Booz se cas\u00f3 con Rut. Dios abri\u00f3 la matriz de Rut para que pueda quedar embarazada, ya que con Mali\u00f3n no hab\u00eda tenido hijos. La tristeza de Noem\u00ed por la muerte de su esposo y de sus dos hijos, fue reemplazado por la felicidad del nacimiento de su nieto Obed.
