Originalmente, los libros 1 y 2 Samuel eran un solo libro. Los traductores de la Septuaginta los separaron, y se mantiene hasta la actualidad esta divisi\u00f3n. Muchos eruditos aceptan que Samuel escribi\u00f3 parte del segundo libro, pero que fue completado probablemente por los profetas Nat\u00e1n y No se alegr\u00f3 de la ca\u00edda de su enemigo. El obst\u00e1culo que hab\u00eda impedido su ascensi\u00f3n al trono de Israel hab\u00eda sido eliminado, no se regocij\u00f3 por ello. La muerte hab\u00eda borrado por completo todo recuerdo de la desconfianza y crueldad de Sa\u00fal, y de su historia David recordaba solo lo que era regio y noble.
